The vision I have for America is larger than this election. It’s larger than just the rhetoric and the venom, and politics, and the lies. I envision an America in which all her people are equal and free. In which we care for our sick and our poor, rather than demonize them. I dream of an America in which we care for the environment and the indigenous people who inhabit it… an America that respects women, and people of color, and sexual minorities. As a country we haven’t had that yet. But it’s the ideal: The shining light of hope in the distance. Perhaps it feels more distant now than it did before, but no matter. We must strive ever toward it.
